Checking the Printer List I found the iP1600 still present and working.
I then ran the 10.4.6 update and restarted. Immediately the Print Using menu displayed Canon IJ Printer. I was then able to open Print & Fax, click on Default Browser and select the USB connected iP1600 link. Using a PPC iMac G5 running 10.4.4 I installed the v3.61 driver that was shipped with the printer. Well after a couple of hours of testing I am none the wiser as to why you are having this problem. If removing the 360.pkg doesn't help then let me know and I will try to recreate your issue in my lab next Tuesday (we have a holiday on Monday). However it must be connected and on when you Add the printer.
Re the printer connection during the installation, it is not necessary to have it connected when you are running the driver setup. Normally you wouldn't touch the contents in here however given the situation you can delete the 360.pkg only and then restart the Mac.ĭon't touch the files in /System/Library.These are OS included files and shouldn't be touched - hence being located in System. The 417 is the one you would have downloaded from the web and CanonPrinterDrivers.pkg is the included package with Tiger. This will be the version you received on CD with the printer. Re the three receipts, the 360.pkg could be the culprit. The driver files are located in six folders inside. It stands for 'Canon Ink Jet Printer', not laserjet (which by the way is a HP name). This is what we should see in the Print Using on the PB. You have the correct driver and setup on the iBook.
